Ameyoko Shopping District is a bustling market street in Tokyo, located between Okachimachi and Ueno stations. Originally known for selling candies, it now offers a wide range of products like clothes, bags, cosmetics, fresh fish, dried food, and spices. The street's name comes from "Ameya Yokocho" or "candy store alley", but some say it also stands for "America" due to its history as a post-war black market with American goods. With stores opening around 10:00 and closing around 20:00 (and some closed on Wednesdays), Ameyoko is a vibrant spot for shopping and exploring in the city.
