When we moved to the Comox Valley, this was the first place we visited. Morning massages, lunch with our robes on, and the Hydropath in the afternoon. Let’s just say, I wish we had gotten a room so we didn't have to drive ten minutes home. I was way too relaxed to be driving.

Just south of Courtenay in the Comox Valley, the Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa is where ocean air, wellness, and West Coast serenity meet. This resort blends luxury with natural beauty — think ocean-view dining, full spa indulgence, and the soothing sound of waves just steps from your door.

For those seeking rest, rejuvenation, and reconnection — whether as a couple, a solo traveler, or a group of girlfriends escaping the daily grind — Kingfisher offers a true sanctuary on Vancouver Island’s east coast.

About the Resort

Kingfisher isn’t your typical spa destination — it’s a wellness retreat built around nature. Every part of the resort is designed to inspire peace, from the sea-salted air and ocean-view yoga studio to the gentle coastal walking paths that wind through the gardens. The gardens put on a light show during the Christmas season. Sip a hot drink by a fire and watch the lights twinkle. Every year, we walk the grounds with hot chocolate and hope it will snow.

The property overlooks Denman Island and the Salish Sea, and you can often spot seals, eagles, and herons from your balcony or the beachfront patio. Whether you’re soaking in the Pacific Mist Spa’s waterfalls or dining on local seafood at Ocean7, the energy here is restorative and grounding.

The Pacific Mist Spa – A Destination in Itself

The resort’s award-winning Pacific Mist Spa is one of the most unique spa experiences in Canada. Inspired by the island’s coastal caves, waterfalls, and tides, this underground spa journey feels like stepping into another world.

Highlights include:

  • Hydrotherapy Circuit: A series of warm and cool water experiences — massage waterfalls, mineral pools, and steam caves — that mimic the natural elements of the Pacific shoreline.

  • Aromatherapy Massage & Body Treatments: Using organic, locally made products infused with seaweed, cedar, and lavender

  • Facials, Wraps & Rituals: Designed to balance and rejuvenate both body and mind.

  • Outdoor pool & hot tub after a long day of relaxing.

For a full day of bliss, pair your spa treatment with ocean-view yoga or a slow afternoon at the Aqua Bistro & Wine Bar.

Rooms & Suites

Kingfisher’s accommodations are modern, calm, and coastal-inspired, with soft tones and textures that reflect the sea.

Options include:

  • Ocean Courtyard Rooms: Ground-level with walkout patios to the garden and sea breeze.

  • Luxury Oceanview Suites: Private balconies, fireplaces, deep-soaker tubs, and sweeping ocean views.

  • Pet-Friendly Options: Select rooms welcome well-behaved dogs, so you can share your retreat with your furry friend.

Ocean7 Restaurant & Aqua Bistro

Dining at Kingfisher is an experience all its own. The Ocean7 Restaurant serves fresh, locally sourced West Coast cuisine with a view that’s hard to beat. Think wild salmon, Dungeness crab, and tender greens from nearby farms — all paired with Vancouver Island wines.

For something lighter, the Aqua Bistro & Wine Bar offers casual tapas, handcrafted cocktails, and cozy seating perfect for sunsets.

Don’t miss:

  • The Sunset Wine Flight — three pours of BC wines paired with local cheese.

  • The Sunday Brunch — a Comox Valley favorite featuring seasonal ingredients and ocean views.
