I lived in Nanaimo for a while, and had never been to this park. Just recently, we thought a quick day trip to Nanoose would be relaxing, and didn't realize how nice Moorecroft Regional Park is.

This peaceful coastal park in Nanoose Bay, just outside Parksville, has easy walking trails through forest that lead down to a quiet shoreline. It’s a perfect stop for a short nature walk, beach access, and a slower, less crowded Vancouver Island experience.

 

Trail Details:

Distance: ~1–2 km network of trails

Time: 20–45 minutes

Difficulty: Easy

Elevation: Minimal

Trail Type: Short loops + out-and-back to beach

What to Expect:

Well-marked forest trails through coastal trees

A short walk leading to beach access

Mix of shaded paths and open shoreline

Quiet, low-traffic park compared to nearby beaches

Beach & Views:

Rocky and sandy shoreline areas

Views across the Salish Sea

Calm waters — great for relaxing or exploring
