Witty’s Lagoon Regional Park is where coastal rainforest, waterfalls, beaches, and lagoons all collide — just a short drive from Victoria. It’s one of those parks that quietly overdelivers: easy access, huge scenery, and something different every season.

Witty’s is perfect if you want maximum reward with minimal effort. You can wander forest trails, chase waterfalls after rain, walk sandy beaches at low tide, or simply soak in ocean views without committing to a long backcountry hike.

Trails:

  • Witty’s Lagoon Loop: ~5 km | 1.5–2.5 hours
A scenic loop through the forest, along the lagoon, and down to the beach. Mostly well-maintained with some stairs and gentle elevation changes.

  • Tower Point / Beach Trail: ~2 km return | 45–60 minutes
Quick access to the shoreline with wide views over the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

  • Sitting Lady Falls: ~1 km return | 20–30 minutes
A short forest walk to a seasonal waterfall — especially impressive after rainfall.

Fun Things to Do:

  • Beach Walks & Tide Exploring — Best at low tide when the beach opens up.

  • Waterfall Chasing — Sitting Lady Falls flows strongest in fall, winter, and spring.

  • Storm Watching — Powerful waves and dramatic skies in winter.

  • Picnicking — Multiple picnic tables near the main entrance and beach access.

  • Photography — Sunset light, driftwood, and coastal views shine here.

How to get there:

  • From Victoria: ~30–35 minutes (about 25 km) via Hwy 14 toward Sooke.

  • Parking: Large main lot off Hwy 14 — fills quickly on weekends and sunny days.

Things to Bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes or hikers

  • Rain jacket (even on “clear” days)

  • Water & snacks

  • Camera or phone

  • Towel or extra layers if exploring the beach

  • Dog leash (required)

Safety Tips:

  • Stairs and trails can be slippery when wet — use caution after rain.

  • Watch the tides if walking far along the beach.

  • Strong winds are common along the shoreline — layer up.

Seasonal Notes

  • Winter: Storm watching + waterfalls = peak drama.

  • Spring: Lush forest, flowing creeks, fewer crowds.

  • Summer: Easy beach access, calm evenings, very popular — go early.

  • Fall: Golden light, cooler temps, and quieter trails.

It’s one of the best “quick nature fixes” near Victoria — easy trails, big scenery, and year-round appeal. Whether you have 30 minutes or a full afternoon, Witty’s delivers classic Vancouver Island coastal vibes without the long drive.
