A scenic waterfall located about 10 minutes south of Port Alberni, British Columbia. It is accessed via a moderate out-and-back trail known for its turquoise waters, lush rainforest surroundings, and several deep swimming holes along the route.

The trail is relatively short but features technical sections that require careful footing.

Approximately 2.7 km (1.7 miles) round trip.

Rated as Moderate. While much of the walk is easy, the final approach to the falls is very steep and involves navigating large rocks, roots, and boulders.

Most hikers complete the trail in 45 minutes to 1 hour.

There are ropes installed on the steepest sections to assist climbers. Crystal-clear pools along the creek are popular for swimming in the summer.

Location & Trailhead

The trailhead is unmarked and can be difficult to find without precise directions.

Directions:

From Port Alberni, drive south on 3rd Avenue, turn left onto Ship Creek Road, then continue straight onto Franklin River Road for about 6 km (3.8 miles).

There is no formal parking lot; visitors typically park on the shoulder near a large yellow gate that leads to a gravel pit.

Look for a small wooden sign that says "Trail" or coloured flagging tape in the trees just past the gate area.

The trail is located near active logging roads. It is strongly recommended to visit on weekends when industrial traffic is minimal.

The trail can be very muddy and slippery, especially during the spring or after heavy rainfall. Sturdy hiking footwear is essential.

Avoid attempting the "loop" shown on some older maps, as it can lead to a dangerous active quarry; stick to the standard out-and-back route to the falls
