Within Strathcona Provincial Park on the southern shore of Buttle Lake, Ralph River Campground is one of those places that instantly quiets the noise of everyday life. It’s where ancient trees tower above your tent, the lake glimmers in morning light, and the air feels cleaner, calmer, and just a little bit wild.
Surrounded by mountains, forest, and crystal-clear water, Ralph River is a peaceful, family-friendly basecamp for exploring the heart of Vancouver Island’s oldest provincial park.
Ralph River sits within a lush pocket of old-growth rainforest — giant cedars, moss-covered logs, and the sound of birdsong all around. The campground edges the shores of Buttle Lake, offering easy access for swimming, kayaking, fishing, or simply relaxing at the water’s edge.
It’s quieter and more remote than the more northern Buttle Lake Campground, making it ideal for travelers who crave space and stillness.
