Sakura Tunnel in the City

A little uphill road that turns into a cherry blossom tunnel every spring—this is one of those spots where Tokyo completely transforms. It feels like walking through a painting, with soft petals above and all around you.

There’s a small pedestrian bridge here, kind of hidden in plain sight, and it gives you this perfect view from above. You can capture the curve of the street lined with blooming trees and, sometimes, a lone person walking below for that perfect sense of scale.

Even from street level, it’s stunning. The way the blossoms hang over the road, almost touching—it’s like nature reclaiming the city for a moment.

Best Time to Photograph:
Late morning for soft light and fewer people, but also great when the light hits the blossoms from the top. During full bloom in late March or early April.
