Zaō Fox Village in Miyagi Prefecture is a small, rustic park where dozens of semi-tame foxes roam in large enclosures and you can walk along fenced paths and buy small cups of food to feed them under staff supervision. Expect to get close enough for great photos but do not touch the animals, keep children and loose clothing secure, and be prepared for quick nips; wear closed-toe shoes because paths can be uneven or muddy. It is easiest reached by car or taxi from Shiroishi-Zaō Station (about 20–30 minutes), parking is limited, and the site has only basic toilets and a tiny shop. Plan for cash payments, typical entrance fees around 800–1,000 yen and food portions inexpensive, and check seasonal hours before you go since winter conditions can alter access.
