Lively square in downtown Reykjavík

Park

Lækjartorg is one of Reykjavik’s main squares and a great spot to start exploring the city. It’s right in the middle of downtown, where several streets meet, so you’ll naturally pass through it while wandering around. 🏙️

The square has a chill vibe, with locals and tourists alike stopping for a coffee at nearby cafés or snapping photos of the statues (look out for The Black Cone sculpture — it’s a bit random but very Icelandic 🤷‍♀️). From here, you’re super close to landmarks like Harpa Concert Hall, Tjörnin pond, and the cute shopping streets like Austurstræti and Laugavegur.

It’s a great place to take a breather before diving back into Reykjavik’s buzzing downtown. And if you’re on a food tour or pub crawl, you’ll probably pass through here — it’s that central.
