Cascada Escondida, meaning “Hidden Waterfall,” is a small but picturesque cascade tucked away in the lush forest near El Chaltén. Reached by a short and relatively easy trail, the waterfall offers a tranquil escape surrounded by native lenga trees and the soothing sound of rushing water. While not as large as other waterfalls in the area, its secluded charm and peaceful setting make it a pleasant stop for those looking to enjoy a quieter side of Patagonia. Adding to its appeal, the trail and viewpoint also frame glimpses of the majestic Mount Fitz Roy in the background, creating a stunning contrast between the gentle forest setting and the jagged granite peaks beyond.

The hike to the waterfall can be part of the wider trail to Laguna de los Tres (longest option), or the trail to Laguna Capri (less demanding hike).
