Lago del Desierto is a remote glacial lake north of El Chaltén, surrounded by dense forest and snow-capped peaks.

Located about 37 km (1.5–2 hours drive) from town along a scenic gravel road, the lake is a peaceful escape compared to the busier trails around Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. Visitors can enjoy short hikes along the shore, boat rides to see the Vespignani Glacier, or simply relax by the turquoise waters with views of Mount Fitz Roy in the distance. The area also has several picnic spots and campsites, making it a perfect day trip or overnight adventure for those seeking a quieter corner of Patagonia.
