The Laguna Nimez Nature Reserve is a small but ecologically rich wetland area located just about 1 km from the center of El Calafate, right on the shores of Lake Argentino, offering easy access and a quiet escape into nature. It preserves around 70 hectares of varied environments (steppe, wetlands, reedbeds) and hosts over 80 bird species, including flamingos, swans, and waterfowl, making it a favorite spot for birdwatching, especially in the warmer months. The reserve is open year-round with hours varying by season (summer ~9:30–19:30; winter ~10:00–18:00). The entrance fee is ARS 12,000 for general (foreign) visitors.
