Mirador del Lago Eléctrico is a lookout point along the upper stretch of the Valle del Río Eléctrico that offers sweeping views of the turquoise waters of Lago Eléctrico, backed by the rugged peaks and glaciers of the Marconi range. The viewpoint is reached via the Sendero Valle del Río Eléctrico, a relatively gentle path that covers ~5.2 km one way and ascends only about 100–110 m, and the last section climbs a moraine slope to the lookout. Visitors arriving here can observe the lake’s origin, framed by glacier melt from the Marconi Glacier, and take in dramatic views of Fitz Roy’s north face, Cerro Eléctrico, and surrounding peaks.
The ideal starting point for the hike is the Los Huemules Reserve entrance, located about 16 km north of El Chaltén along Route 23 (the same road that continues toward Lago del Desierto).
At the reserve’s visitor center, you register (there’s a small entrance fee since it’s private conservation land) and get trail information.
