Directions

You'll be immediately struck by the calming, minimalist interior, which is home to the breathtaking marble sculptures of Christ and the twelve apostles by Bertel Thorvaldsen. The peaceful atmosphere offers a quiet escape from the city's bustle, allowing you a moment for peaceful reflection. It’s a place of profound beauty and historical significance, having hosted major national events, including royal weddings.

A Site 800 Years in the Making: The site has housed a church since 1209. Over the centuries it was ravaged repeatedly by fire and war. On the night of 5 September 1807, during the Napoleonic Wars, the English used the very tall spire on Vor Frue Kirke as their sighting point, and a rocket set fire to it, which collapsed into the nave and set the entire building on fire.
