Not far from Wat Umong is Wat Suan Dok. It's a very old temple known for its large number of white chedis or pagodas. The tallest golden chedi in Sri Lankan style is 48 meters tall and contains the relic of the Buddha. Alarge number of smaller white chedis contain the ashes of members of several generations of the Chiang Mai Royal Family. Temple is open from 6AM until 5PM, and the best time to visit is around the golden hour. Drones can't fly here as it's a no fly zone. Not far from here is Nimmanhaemin, known for a buzzing dining and nightlife scene centered on its namesake road, with casual northern Thai eateries alongside hip cafes and live-music lounges. For one of the best Khao Soi in Chiang Mai, go to Khao Soi Nimman. For late night drinks with locals, go to Warm Up Cafe. And for a great hotel nearby, go to Akyra Manor Chiang Mai.
