Located just outside of Ayutthaya, Wat Phra Ngam is both picturesque and deeply historic. This old Buddhist temple from the 17th century houses an incredible "Gate of Time," which is framed by an impressive bodhi tree as well as an ancient stupa. Tourists flock to the area in order to snap a shot before sunset, letting the last rays of light shoot through the archway like a dramatic Stargate scene from a movie. For those who come earlier in the day, watching the sun rise over the gate creates a casually ethereal atmosphere. The beautiful octagon pagoda and brick walls surrounding the temple provide plenty of great backgrounds and plenty of unique experiences for travelers!
