The Fukuoka Castle Ruins in Maizuru Park offer a glimpse into the city's feudal past, with only remnants of walls and turrets remaining from its Edo Period glory. Built in the early 17th century by Kuroda Nagamasa, the castle was once the largest on Kyushu but was mostly dismantled after the Meiji Restoration. Today, visitors can stroll through cherry blossom-lined paths in spring and explore surviving gates and guard towers scattered across the grounds. It's a cool spot to soak up some history and enjoy a leisurely walk in the heart of Fukuoka.
