Kaniya Horobetsu in Shiretoko is a small, remote coastal/river spot known for dramatic scenery and wildlife, not a developed attraction, so go prepared as if you are heading into backcountry. You will most likely need a car or a guided tour to reach it, expect little to no facilities, spotty cell service, and unmarked trails, so bring water, snacks, waterproof clothing and sturdy shoes. Bear safety is important here, so travel in groups, make noise, follow ranger warnings and closures, and carry bear spray if you can. If you prefer a lower-effort option, look for coastal boat tours out of Utoro or Rausu and book in advance during summer; otherwise plan to base yourself in town for an early start.
