Located in Ise, Japan, the Futamiokitama Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Sarutahiko Ōkami. The grounds of the sacred site are believed to bring luck and prosperity to those who pray within them, as it sits near the Meoto Iwa rocks which represent the gods Izanagi and Izanami. Couples often travel to the shrine to ask for blessings upon their marriage. As its particular proximity to the coast allows, the temple acts as a perfect starting point for visitors before visiting the nearby Ise Grand Shrine, as the ceremony of harae is carried out here with pilgrims bathing in the waters of Futami. Furthermore, those who have had their prayers answered typically donate a frog statue in the area, a practice that is increasingly popular among locals.
