Fly between Bishkek -> Osh

The drive between Bishkek and Osh takes around 16 hours—if everything goes smoothly. While it might look like a straightforward journey on the map, the reality is more complicated. If you're coming from the southern region and heading to Osh, you’ll first need to backtrack north toward Bishkek, then head south again—making for an inefficient and exhausting route.

Most of central Kyrgyzstan is made up of remote mountain passes, rough unpaved roads, and very little tourism infrastructure. Overnight accommodations are scarce, and the risk of wrong turns or delays is high, especially if you're not fluent in Russian or Kyrgyz.

That’s why I chose to fly between the two cities—and it was absolutely worth it. Flights are frequent, reliable, and usually cost around $50 USD each way.
