Clifden Castle, located in County Galway, was built in 1818 for John D’Arcy, the founder of Clifden Town. Although now in ruins, the castle still stands impressively overlooking the coastline. Visitors can access it via a short walk from a small parking area near the old castle gates. The scenery along the walk is as magical as the castle itself! The history of Clifden Castle is filled with drama, bankruptcy, and controversial sales, making it a fascinating spot to explore.
