Buckland Abbey is a 700-year-old Grade I listed house in Devon, known for its ties to Sir Richard Grenville and Sir Francis Drake.

Originally a Cistercian abbey founded in 1278, it was later converted into a residence by the Grenville family. After changing hands a few times, it was eventually donated to the National Trust in 1947.

Today, visitors can explore the historic house, view the collection that includes "Drake's Drum," and enjoy the beautiful gardens. Don't miss the Tithe Barn and the Rembrandt self-portrait on display!

Spring and summer is a gorgeous time to visit if you want to see the estate in bloom. The woodlands are particularly beautiful in spring when they are carpeted in bluebells!
