The Tall Trees Trail in California is a sublime example of an old-growth redwood forest. Your hike will take you past a peaceful river, where you can sit for a few minutes and soak it all in. We visited during the rainy season, and despite the rain, the grove was breathtaking. Watching the fog roll in over the canopy is an experience I'll never forget.
This hike is a bit deceptive because it starts off pretty easy; you’ll be walking downhill the whole time until you make it into the grove. But then you have to hike back up almost 800 feet of elevation to get out, so be prepared for that!
VERY IMPORTANT! You MUST get a permit online to access the Tall Trees Trail. It's very remote, with extremely limited parking, so this helps with traffic control.
