Gartloch Hospital was a mental health facility in Scotland that opened in 1896 and closed in 1996. Managed by NHS Greater Glasgow, it served as a district asylum with a peak bed capacity of 830 in 1904. After the introduction of Care in the Community in the 1980s, the hospital went into decline and eventually shut down. The abandoned administration building, with its distinctive French Renaissance style, remains intact but derelict. In popular culture, the hospital was featured in a BBC television series and a documentary film that explored its history.
