Local Guide of Vatnajökull is the best for glacier hikes and ice cave tours in the area! They offer two different ice cave tours:

1. Ice Cave Tour is about 2 - 3 hours long, suitable for most fitness levels, and is an easy adventure

2. Ice Cave Discovery is about 4 - 6 hours long, combining a glacier hike and ice cave tour, a more adventurous and challenging experience

From the meeting point, you'll ride in a modified 4x4 on a rugged road into the glacial valley, which is an adventure of its own. From there you'll hike roughly 15 minutes to the entrance of the cave, and most of the walk will happen on the glacier. Although the exact ice cave can vary from year to year and throughout the season, most of Vatnajökull's ice caves are stunning blue ice caves, and require a short walk on the glacier to the cave entrance. Inside the cave, you will have time to enjoy the scenery, gaze at the shades of blue, and take photos.

Local Guide's ice cave tours are available from October - March. The minimum age for ice cave tours is 10 years old however depending on the exact terrain of the ice cave, this may change from season to season.
