Hallormsstaður National Forest is located in Fljótsdalur, east Iceland, 25 kilometres inland from the town of Egilsstaðir. It is one of the larger forests in Iceland and is a great source of recreation for visitors looking to spend some time outdoors. The forest covers 740 hectares and is filled with walking trails, picnic areas, campsites, an arboretum, hotel, and boat and horse rentals. There are 85 species of trees throughout the entire forest, all sourced from across 600 places around the world. Visitors can take advantage of the varied landscape for birdwatching, berry-picking, botanizing and mushroom hunting. With its clear streams and breath taking views, Hallormsstaður Forest offers something for everyone looking to enjoy nature in a safe and beautiful setting.
