The Farmers Market in the center of Funchal is a vibrant hub for fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fish. The Mercado dos Lavradores, designed by Edmundo Tavares and opened in 1940, offers a lively local atmosphere with colorful stalls and diverse sounds and smells. While it's a great place to explore exotic fruits and flowers, be cautious about buying products here as prices are often very high.

The market is open daily except Sundays and holidays, with Friday being a special day when traditionally dressed flower vendors sell beautiful exotic flowers.
