This beautiful tidal saltwater pool is tucked away at the southern end of Piha Beach, offering a more sheltered place to swim, away from the rough ocean waves. However, it must only be visited and exited at low tide for safe access.

📍 What Makes It Special?

• Formed behind a natural rock gap known as "The Gap", providing protection from strong currents.

• Mostly shallow, but gets deeper at high tide, especially in the center where waves crash over the rocks.

• A local favorite for swimming and relaxing, with more privacy than the main beach.

🚶‍♂️ How to Get There:

• Only visit & exit at low tide by walking along the southern end of Piha Beach, past Taitomo Rock and through The Gap—the Pools will be on your left.

• Do NOT attempt at high tide, as the route is blocked by waves.

⚠️ Good to Know:

• No lifeguards – swim with caution.

• No restrooms – the nearest facilities are at South Piha Beach parking area.

• Black sand = hot sand! Bring beach shoes or sandals.

• Parking fills up quickly on weekends & holidays – additional parking is available near the Bowling Club.
