Myra Falls is a true hidden gem, tucked away at the far west end of Buttle Lake in Strathcona Provincial Park. This tiered waterfall is nothing short of spectacular, and the best part? There’s no shortage of ways to photograph it. Whether you’re after sweeping, wide-angle shots or looking to focus on the intricate textures and patterns in the rock, there’s something for everyone here.

My favourite spot is the lower falls—a mighty cascade worth the scramble. Just be careful! The trail is steep, with plenty of roots to navigate, but the views are incredible once you’re at the bottom. The rock formations around the falls are packed with fascinating details, perfect for getting creative with close-ups and abstract compositions.

In the summer, it’s a fantastic place to cool off. The mist from the falls is incredibly refreshing on a hot day, though you won’t be the only one with that idea—it can get busy. But don’t let that put you off. With so many different angles to explore, Myra Falls is a rewarding spot to shoot in any season.
