This hidden fortress in Suwon is a spot that isn't too popular with tourists. The grounds and different structures are a bit scattered throughout the neighborhood, and admission tickets to the official grounds are very cheap (when my husband and I visited it was 1,500 Won per adult). Each Sunday they have a special Changing of the Guards, which was unique to see. Outside the official grounds, you can find a cute creek and the South Gate, also called the Hwahongmun Gate, to the city of Seoul (the North Gate is at Gyeongbokgung Palace). Nearby, you can find lots of cafes, restaurants, and cute little boutique stores. My favorite cafe is We Have Today that has a unique cheese coffee and great views of the fortress.
