The Trümmelbach Falls are a series of ten powerful glacial waterfalls hidden inside the cliffs of Lauterbrunnen Valley. These falls, fed by the mighty glaciers of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, carry up to 20,000 liters of water per second, carving their way through the rock and creating an awe-inspiring natural spectacle.

Unlike most waterfalls, Trümmelbach is located inside the mountain, and you can explore the falls through a network of tunnels, walkways, and viewing platforms. A funicular lift inside the rock takes you up to the higher levels, from where you can follow the paths deeper into the roaring, mist-filled caverns. The thundering sound of the water rushing through the gorge and the misty air create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.

Located in the heart of Lauterbrunnen Valley, the Trümmelbach Falls are a must-see for anyone exploring the region. They are the largest underground waterfalls in Europe and the only glacial waterfalls in the world accessible by a lift.

Seraina’s Tip: Trümmelbach Falls is an especially great place to visit during or after rainfall, as the extra water flow makes the waterfalls even more powerful and dramatic. Bring a rain jacket or waterproof clothing, as the mist inside the gorge can make the walkways wet.
