Samara is another quite popular beach town in Guanacaste. It's great for surfing and laid-back vibes. Compared to other places that have a lot of American Expats, Samara has more European Expats from Germany, Switzerland, etc. The town offers some little shops and restaurants; the beach is long and white. Samara has great vibes and is usually more affordable and less busy than the nearby Nosara.
