The Botanic Gardens were established in 1828 and are located in the heart of Belfast, near Queen's University. The gardens cover approximately 28 acres and are easily accessible public park and garden.

The gardens provide a green oasis in the midst of the city. The university's iconic Lanyon Building can be seen from various points within the gardens.

The gardens are laid out in a formal design and feature a combination of flowerbeds, lawns, and tree-lined avenues. There are several notable features within the gardens, the Palm House and the Tropical Ravine are my favourite!

Palm House:

The Palm House is a prominent Victorian glasshouse, one of the key attractions in the Botanic Gardens. It was completed in 1840 and is home to a range of tropical plants, including palms, ferns, and orchids. The design is similar to the Palm House at Kew Gardens in London.

Tropical Ravine:

The Tropical Ravine is another glasshouse that showcases a collection of exotic plants from around the world.

The gardens boast a diverse collection of plants, flowers, and shrubs.

Rose Garden:

The Rose Garden is a popular section of the Botanic Gardens, featuring a variety of roses in different colors and varieties, providing a serene and fragrant setting.

The gardens are adorned with various sculptures and statues, adding artistic elements to the natural surroundings.

The Botanic Gardens are easily accessible by public transportation and are a short walk from the city center. The gardens are free to enter, making them a popular destination. I hope you enjoy exploring Belfast’s Botanic Gardens!
