Carcross Desert is a compact set of sand dunes. You can walk from the small parking area onto the dunes in minutes, and most people spend 30 to 60 minutes exploring and taking photos. Bring sun protection, a windproof layer and water, because the site is exposed and facilities are minimal; wear shoes you don't mind getting sandy. If you want to sandboard, bring your own board or check for rentals in Carcross, and be mindful that the dunes are part of a sensitive local landscape on traditional First Nation territory, so stick to established paths and leave it as you found it.
