Cascade Voile de la Mariée is one of Réunion’s most iconic waterfalls, tumbling down the steep walls of Cirque de Salazie in a veil-like cascade. You can’t hike to its base — and you don’t need to. The best view is from a roadside pull-off on the RN2 between Salazie and Hell-Bourg.
The name means “Bridal Veil Waterfall,” and with good reason — in the wet season, multiple threads of water spill down the cliff, sometimes 200 m or more, looking like gauzy white fabric against the green rock face.
Easy roadside stop with parking and photo platforms
Often visible in the morning, but mist rolls in fast — come early
No walking is required, but keep your footing near the railings
Best combined with a day trip to Hell-Bourg or Salazie village
👉 Local tip: After heavy rain, the falls are loud, wide, and at their most photogenic — but check for road closures in cyclone season.
