Point Sinclair’s “Pink Lake” is a shallow salt lake near Penong that can turn pink under the right conditions — typically after decent rainfall combined with warm temperatures and high salinity.

When I visited, there hadn’t been much rain, so the lake had completely dried out. Instead of pink water, it was a wide, white salt pan — still striking in its own way, but not the bubble-gum pink you sometimes see online.

There was a dirt road to get here but it was accessible in 2WD (my friend was in a Mitsubishi Express). I'd for sure recommend the stop here just note (as seen in my photos) that it may have dried up in summer months. Its still a good stop regardless.

What’s here:
✔ Seasonal salt lake
✔ Open salt flats
✔ Unique photo opportunity
✔ Quiet roadside detour

Important notes:
✔ Colour depends heavily on recent rainfall and conditions
✔ May appear white/dry for long periods
✔ No facilities
✔ Check road access if conditions are wet - conditions on the dirt road may change.

Note: I have added a photo online of the pink lake and the photos of the dried up side of the lake are my own - the dried up side is what you might see in dryer months.
