Christie Falls, also known as Falls Creek Falls, is a classic cascade waterfall located in Fiordland National Park. It's a 15-metre high waterfall that you can see from the side of the road - perfect if you're in a hurry to get out to Milford Sound. The best time to see it is after a good rain when the water is really flowing, which is often, as Fiordland gets a high amount of rainfall.

It's on your way to Milford Sound and the waterfall is right beside the road, so there is no reason not to stop. Just a cool little spot to check out on your road trip through the stunning scenery of Fiordland!

Things to know:

  • This is a popular spot for tourists and tourists buses to stop off at, so parking can get busy during peak season. People don't generally stay for too long though.

  • There are a few bench seats near the carpark where you can look across the stunning Hollyford River.

Getting there: From the carpark, walk towards the bench seats and when you can cross safely, head across the road to the waterfall.

Parking: There is a carpark just down from the waterfall, called Christie Fall Parking on Google.
