A unique geological formation, the Organ Pipes are basalt columns formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago. The impressive columns resemble organ pipes and there are numerous lookout points along the trail. The track is approximately 45 minutes from the carpark. You can also access the top of the Organ Pipes with a short, steep climb for beautiful views over the surrounding area and towards the coastline. The car park is located 20 minutes out of Dunedin

Remember: Take care at the top of the Organ Pipes as there is a sharp dropoff.

Personal tip: These rock formations are super unique, definitely worth the stop!
