Winter Clothing

This is many times confusing for turists, Spain has overall a template climate, with very warm summers and chilly winters, but Spanish geography is very diverse and so are its climates, you can find oceanic climate in the north with very green landscapes and with plenty of rain days per year, but then in the south you can find warm winters with tons of sunny days along the year. There is also a Mediterranean climate and a continental one in all the inner side of Spain with very cold winters.

Therefore, your winter clothing will strictly depend on which side of Spain are you visiting, if you are going to the Mediterranean coast or south Andalucia, you will likely find a very mild winter and with a couple of layers, it will do it.

But if you visit inland Spain, in province captials such as Burgos, León, Teruel, Segovia, Ávila or Soria, temperatures can easily drop to -10º during winter and get a decent amount of snow falls per year.

Best thing to do is to check weather forecast of the exact place you are visiting, but not of the biggest cities around because for example, Valencia is just 100 km away from Teruel, you may think its climate has to be very similar, but it is not and during winter there is an average diference of 12-15º degrees between them. You can find 15º in Valencia while it is freezing in Teruel at the same time, and they are just 100 km away from each other.
