A lovely forest walk in Aviemore, and especially pretty in the snow!!
This is a rural spot on the edge of the Cairngorms, so treat it like a small trailhead rather than a serviced attraction: come prepared with waterproof layers, sturdy shoes and insect repellent, and download an offline map because mobile signal is often patchy. There is little in the way of formal parking or facilities, so use lay-bys responsibly, leave gates as you find them and take rubbish with you. The nearest hub for fuel, groceries and trains is Aviemore, so stock up there if you need supplies or public transport. In summer expect midges at low wind; in winter expect snapping temperatures, icy tracks and possible snow, so check local weather and road conditions before you set out.
