Hraunfossar, also known as Lava Falls, is a stunning series of waterfalls located in West Iceland. These beautiful falls are formed by streams of water flowing out of the Hallmundarhraun lava field. The lava field itself was created by an eruption from one of the volcanoes under the nearby Langjökull glacier. The water from Hraunfossar cascades into the Hvítá river, creating a mesmerizing sight. Nearby, you can also visit another waterfall called Barnafoss, which has a tragic legend associated with it. Hraunfossar is definitely worth a visit if you're exploring the Borgarfjörður district in Iceland.
