Honestly one of the most memorable sunsets of my time in the NT!

The Ubirr Rock Art Site in Kakadu is like stepping into a living storybook of ancient culture and natural beauty. As you explore, you’ll discover incredible Aboriginal rock art, some of it dating back tens of thousands of years. Each painting tells a story—of Dreamtime, hunting, and everyday life—connecting you to the spiritual heritage of this land.

But the real magic happens as the day winds down. I'd recommend climbing to the Ubirr lookout, and as the sun sets, the Nadab floodplains transform into something truly spectacular! Golden light bathes the landscape, and the sky evolves into hues of orange and purple! It’s so breathtaking, I honestly felt like I stepped into the iconic “Circle of Life” scene from The Lion King!

The walk itself is short and easy, taking about 1 km round trip and approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on how long you linger to admire the stunning rock art.
