Kummakivi, or in English the Strange Boulder, is a unique natural wonder in Finland that defies gravity by balancing on a flat rock. This massive boulder, measuring around 7 x 4 x 5 meters, was transported by glaciers during the last Ice Age. Visitors can take an easy forest hike to marvel at this bizarre sight and explore the surrounding South Finnish coniferous forest and lake ecosystems. Don't forget to check out the moss bridge nearby, originally built for forest workers in the 1930s but now a charming spot for nature enthusiasts.
The circular path is 2,2 km long and easygoing and while there, you can enjoy typical South Finnish coniferous forest & lake ecosystems.
There is a Saimaa Geopark sign at Kummakivi Parking area and another next to Kummakivi itself. Kummakivi is protected as a natural monument outlined in the Nature Conservation Act.
