Do NOT take home any pieces of white coral. What is Popcorn Beach?

Popcorn Beach is not an ordinary beach. Instead of sand or pebbles, there are small pieces of fossilized white popcorn-like algae. These kelp fossils are called rhodolites and they turn white with time, although their original color is red! I also really liked the fact that the shoreline had several pools.

How do you get to Popcorn Beach?

Popcorn Beach is located in the north of Fuerteventura, near the tourist center of Corralejo. You can reach the beach on foot from Corralejo by hiking about 1 hour along the coast, or by car.

La Spiaggia dei Popcorn non è una spiaggia normale. Al posto della sabbia o dei ciottoli, si trovano piccoli pezzi di alghe bianche fossili simili a popcorn. Questi fossili di alghe sono chiamati rodoliti e diventano bianchi con il tempo, nonostante il loro colore originario sia rosso! Mi è piaciuto molto anche il fatto che il litorale avesse diverse pozze di acqua.

Come si arriva a Popcorn Beach?

La spiaggia di Popcorn si trova a nord di Fuerteventura, vicino al centro turistico di Corralejo. È possibile raggiungere la spiaggia a piedi da Corralejo facendo un'escursione di circa 1 ora lungo la costa, oppure in auto.
