Cathedral Ranges have some of the most challenging hikes in the state but equally rewarding.

Finally standing at the top of Sugarloaf Peak after literally rock climbing up the side of the range doesn't get much better than this - the best viewpoint in the Cathedral Ranges in my opinion. We took the Southern Circuit which started from Sugarloaf Saddle Carpark, along the Canyon Track and the Razorback Track and then down Jawbone Creek Track to Jawbone Carpark where we had another car waiting for us.

Elise's Tips:

You can always head straight up to Sugarloaf Peak via Canyon Track and return the same way you came for a shorter route with the best views but please keep in mind it's pretty much rock climbing and you'll need to be on all fours for this - it's not for the faint hearted! There’s also options to camp at the Farmyard, take a 15 minute detour to the South Jawbone Peak and a 20 minute detour to the North Jawbone Peak. All have amazing views of the surrounding valley and range.

People have needed to be rescued here after losing their footing or not leaving enough time to get back to the car before dark. Please make sure you come prepared, hike with others and don't attempt in wet weather as rocks can be slippery.
