The Besseggen Ridge in Jotunheimen, Norway is a popular 14 km long trail which offers spectacular panoramic views of the Jotunheimen peaks, two lakes and the valley. With an elevation of 1200 meters, it gives hikers an opportunity to challenge their fitness and test their mettle with some moderate scrambling along the ridge, which is about one kilometer long and 250 m high. The hike usually takes 7-8 hours and should be undertaken well–equipped with warm, weather-proof clothing, food and drinks as well as sturdy shoes with good traction. For those who are not up for the full hike, just walking up to the viewpoint can be an enjoyable experience.
