The herring adventure had a massive impact on the small town of Siglufjörður. The Herring Era Museum is Iceland’s largest maritime. Get to know the herring fishery and processing industry that underpinned Iceland’s economy for much of the twentieth century. I loved this museum, it's located in five exhibition buildings and I learned a lot about this period in our history, how people lived and how it all ended.
