Luostarinmäki Open-Air Museum is one of my absolute favorite spots in Turku and honestly, it feels like stepping straight back in time. This is the only original wooden house area in Turku that survived the Great Fire of 1827, which makes it such a special place to explore.

As you wander through the narrow cobblestone streets, you’ll see traditional wooden houses, tiny workshops, and even people dressed in old-fashioned clothing showing how locals used to live and work back in the day. It’s like walking through a little time capsule right in the middle of the city.

COST: Adults €12, children pay less. Keep an eye out for free entry days (for example, during Turku Day), when you can explore the outdoor areas for free, though the indoor exhibits might be closed. Honestly, even the regular ticket price is so worth it!

TIPS:

  • Skip the heels, the old cobblestone streets can be quite uneven.

  • Bring your camera, because this place is super photogenic!

  • The museum area has a small café and a cute museum shop where you can find unique Finnish souvenirs.

HOW TO GET THERE: It’s located super close to Turku city centre, just a short walk from the Market Square. If you’re staying anywhere in the centre, you won’t need public transport, it’s easily walkable!
