The Gifford House & Museum Store in Capitol Reef National Park is a slice of history served with freshly baked goodies. Originally a homestead for Mormon pioneers, this charming spot offers a peek into the past with its old schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and orchards.

🥧 DID SOMEONE SAY FRESH PIE? 🥧

The fastest way to my heart is through my stomach, and a pie from the Gifford House is a MUST for your next visit to Utah’s Might 5 National Parks.

The Gifford Homestead is located on the Scenic Drive, one mile south of the Capitol Reef visitor center, in the Fruita District. It’s open every year from March 14 (Pi Day) to late November, and there is a small parking lot adjacent to the house. Go early because they can and will sell out!

Other than pies, there’s a wide selection of books, historic postcards, jams, jellies, and homemade ice cream available.

Pies come in multiple flavors:
🍏 Apple
🍓 Strawberry Rhubarb
🍑 Peach
🫐 Mixed Berry
🍒 Cherry

Strawberry Rhubarb is my favorite, with peach coming in a very close second. Have you tried the pies in Capitol Reef? If you haven’t— you’re seriously missing out on the BEST post-hike treat.

Pro-tip: leave in your windshield to heat up on your hike 🤭

See my video showing love for the pies: HERE.
