This is one of the best and safest spots in Iceland to get up close with puffins. This was hands down the best place we saw puffins during our entire Iceland in June trip!!!
A short walk from the free car park and up a flight of wooden stairs brings you to viewing platforms right in the middle of a bustling colony of around 10,000 pairs, active from mid-April to mid-August. You can spend anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple of hours watching these charming birds without disturbing their natural habitat.
